The Ultimate Stress Buster

No one wants to feel stressed. (Especially since stress leads to breakouts) But if you are feeling stressed, then here's how to get rid of it.
  1. Run/power-walk for a mile or two (It's proven exercise relieves stress)
  2. Watch (and do) one of those palates/yoga videos
  3. Rinse off and wash your hair in the shower
  4. Get out and run a bath
  5. Put in some yummy smelling bubble bath (White tea and jasmine is perfect to calm you down)
  6. While the water's running, get a few towels and put them in the dryer
  7. Before getting in, apply an avocado and honey face mask (Leave it on for the whole time you're in the bath to let it soak in and deep-clean your skin)
  8. Drain the water when you're ready to get out, then stand up and rinse off any bubbles and the mask
  9. Get your towels out of the dryer (They should be waaaaaarm)
  10. Dry off, then read a magazine or a book
(If you aren't totally relaxed by now, you should see a therapist)

Anti-Frizz Potion

If you don't have an anti-frizz spray handy, here's how to get rid of frizz.

For Naturally Frizzy Hair:
  1. Mix an anti-frizz conditioner with a tad bit of mayonaise. (Not too much of either)
  2. Work into damp hair.
  3. Brush hair to remove knots.
  4. Blowdry on low, then straighten.

For a Bad Hair Day:

  1. Use a light conditioner on dry hair. Not too much, or it will ruin your flat iron.
  2. Simply flat iron your hair, and you're good to go!

How to Deal With Flaky Pimples

I posted this a while back, but not a lot of people notice the older posts. So if you get acne where your skin is dry, here's how to deal.
  1. Exfolitate with a clarifying cleanser.
  2. Use a soap with mild skin on the affected area, but use with a washcloth to exfoliate further.
  3. Try Proactive Mask, then use the actual acne treatment. Your acne should be greatly reduced!

Jeweled Eyes

Here's another way to sparkle at a party...
  1. Sweep a purple liner on top lids, winging it out at the ends. Do the same on the bottom lids, except with green liner.
  2. Then apply a purple glittery shadow wear you winged out the liner to add depth to your eyes.
  3. Finally, dust a gold shadow on eyelids and inner corners to lighten up your eyes.

Hair Tip

To get sleek hair, sprits an anti firzz spray all over hair. Use Tresseme, its the best. Simply apply all over hair before and after straightening.

Dazzling Lips

To stand out at a party, here's one of the four ways to dazzle everyone!

  1. Apply a sort of waxy lip balm to keep your lipstick on, and to keep your lips moisturized (Try Carmex, $1 at drugstores)
  2. Smooth on a sparkling lipstick for a shimmery base color. (Try Sparkling Lipstick in On Fire, $12 at Victoria Secret)
  3. Time to pump up the glitter! Dip a lip brush into a pot of loose sparkly powder, shake off the brush, then press the brush onto your lips, working from the inner corners out. (Try MAC Glitter in Fuschia, $20 at maccosmetics.com)

Hawt Tip

Go for navy liner! Natural is on its way out, so bring out the color! Use navy liner and then smudge for a cute update. But only use on top lids. Also, dont wear too much other make up if your gonna go for this look. Especially 6th graders. Some of the girls at my school or going waaaay too heavy on the eyeshadow/liner. Save this look for a night out.

Skin Scare: Flaky Pimples

Do you break out where your skin gets dry? There is a simple remedy. First, exfoliate to remove dead skin cells and any oils that might be causing acne. Then, use a light, noncomedogenic lotion. keep it moisturized, but don't wait untill you break out again to do this, use this treatment every other day to keep your skin clear.

Skin Scare: Sunburn

This weekend I was at my friend's lake house. It was so much fun, but unfortunately I didn't do a great job of applying sunscreen. So as I'm sitting here righting this, my face is as red as Rudolph's nose. But of course I'm not concerned. Theres a simple way to keep redness at bay. (lol by rhyming). All you need is to apply aloe vera often, use concealer and loose powder, and go on with your day. Keep lotion on when your not at school to prevent peeling. And there you have it!

Earth Tones

Hawt=natural right? Of course! But that doesn't mean you have to throw away all of your aquas, greens, and chocolates! You can still be colorful, just not overdone. Tomorrow or later today, I'll post the best earth tones for your eye color.

Roses are red...

Roses are red, but not your lips or cheeks! Run away from scarlet lip stick/blush like you would run away from a drug dealer! And if you would stay and buy something from that dealer, there's a thing called the law and your breaking it. So get off your computer and go to rehab! Ok but back to make up tips....oh yeah so the whole idea is natural, and even though roses are flowers, therefore nature, but your face is not a rose. Ok, I think you get the point.

Lay Off the Liner

Skip the eyeliner! This season is all about natural, so say no to liner. The goal here is effortless beauty. or at least effortless looking beauty. So when it comes to exaggerating on your eyes, (even if it is your best feature) lay off. All you need is a neutral shadow, a little mascara, and your done.

Lotion Tip

Make sure your lotion is noncomedogenic. (That means it won't clog your pores) If its not, it will clog your pores which will give you acne. And unless you have dry skin, use light moisturizers, not thick creams.

Best Shampoo and Conditioner

Whatever your hair type, Herbal Escenses Body Envy Shampoo and Conditioner is the best! It gives your hair body and rids your hair of oils and other impurities.

My Cleansing Routine

I follow a routine every day to keep my skin looking healthy and rejuvenated, not dull and pasty. I start with Clean & Clear Facial Scrub with Bursting Beads to open up my pores. Next, I use Basis Sensitive Skin Facial Soap to rid my skin of any other oils and dirts. Then, I use Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Cleanser, which moisturizes my skin as well as waking me up with its Bursting Beads. This routine keeps oily and dry skin at bay, so I suggest you use it too. But for night, I just use Clean & Clear Cream Facial Cleanser. Its a night cleanser only, and it deep cleans and moisturizes at the same time. It relaxes your face and prepares you to sleep easily.

Best Lip Gloss

Try Cover Girl Rasberry Splash Lip Gloss. The more you put on, the darker it gets without looking sloppy. For fair skin, one coat. For beige skin, to or three coats. For deep skin, try four or more. Make sure your gloss looks sweet, not sticky.

Caution!

Always test any store bought or home made products on the inside of your wrist before applying them to your face. If the skin on your wrist reacts badly, then you know not to use it.

Quick Hair Fix

Oily hair weighing you down? If you don't have time to shower, rub a little baby powder on your hands then apply it to your roots. But make sure you can't see it, or you'll look like our 1st president!

Flat to Fab!

Flat hair? Don't worry, there are loads of solutions to solve that. One is to blow dry your hair upside down, or use a curling iron to make soft waves. Try Herbal Essences Body Envy shampoo and conditioner. I also like to use Garnier Fructis XXL Volume Mousse. Apply that to your roots on damp hair before blow drying.

Cleansing Care

Every beautiful face you see starts with some basic skin care. Here's what to do.
  1. Get Set. Sweep you hair off your face with a headband or barrette.
  2. Get Wet. Splash warm water on your face. (Test the water first)
  3. Suds Up. Use your fingertips (or a washcloth) to rub soap or a cleanser into your face.
  4. Rinse Off. Splash warm water (again) on your face to rinse off the soap.
  5. Dab Dry. Gently pat your face (don't rub!) until your dry.

Seven Secrets to Beautiful Skin

  1. Clean It: your skin secrets oils and sheds dead skin. Keep all of that stuff from building up by washing your face at least once a day
  2. Feed It: Eat lots of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to keep your skin healthy. Eating to much junk will make your skin look yellow-ish and unhealthy. Gross x 10!
  3. Work It: Regular exercise gets your blood pumping, which delivers oxygen to your skin. Exercise also relieves stress, and stress can cause you to break out.
  4. Water It: Drink at least 8 cups of water a day to keep your skin moisturized. (Not soda!)
  5. Protect It: Use foundation with sunscreen, wear a hat on sunny days, and protect your lips with an SPF 15 lip balm. To get a summer glow, you can always wear bronzer.
  6. Rest It: Everyone needs their beauty sleep. Get at least 8 hours of sleep to allow your skin to rejuvenate.
  7. Pamper It: Make time for refreshing facials! Pampering your skin will keep it refreshed and healthy.

How to Get Flawless Looking Skin

First, clease your entire face, then use a concealer to hide any blemishes or dark cirlces. Then apply a sparkling loose powder foundation (try anything from the Bare Minerals collection) to your whole face. If you want, apply a bronzer over that. If you dont use bronzer, then apply a subtle rosy blush to your cheeks. Then sweep a honey shadow on your eyelids for a sublte shimmer. Apply mascara, but no eyeliner. Then choose a bright lip gloss to stand out.

Acne Attack!

Don't sweat it if you start breaking out, everyone does from time to time. Some more that others, depending on their skin type. So if your faced with an invasion of zits, don't worry. Just wash your face normally and give the pimple some time to run its course, eventually it'll go away. But to speed up the process, you can dab some acne cream with benyzol peroxide to dry it up. ( I use Proactiv) Do you break out where your bangs touch your face? If so, thats because the oil from your hair clogs the pores on your face. So, when you're just hanging out at home, sweep your bangs of your face with a headband. And be sure to wash your hair! (Of course)
Acne Don'ts

Don't squeeze it. Don't touch it. Don't pick it. Don't pop it.

Make Up Tip!

Matte lips are out! Skip any lipstick that leaves your lips looking dry! For long lasting lip color, choose a 2 in 1 lip gloss. The first coat is the color, which will dry looking matte. Then the 2nd coat is a clear gloss to leave your lips looking bright all day long!

Hello Sunshine

Nice tan? Don't be so sure. The suns rays hit your skin, darkening the pigment, and giving you a tan. But as nice as it may look now, when your 40 and have serious wrinkle problems...well its not that nice. (no offense to 40 year olds) Too much exposure can even lead to skin cancer! So just to be safe, wear a foundation that has sunscreen in it to protect you always. Stay beautiful!

Quick Lip Care

Are you cursed with dry cracks lips? There's a very simple solution, and it takes less then a minute! First, run a toothbrush under warm water. Then, rub the toothbrush gently on your lips to remove dead skin. Last, apply lip balm, then your lip gloss/stick. And viola!

Pamper Your Face

  1. Get Set: Turn on some music to get relaxed. Wrap yourself in a robe a pull your hair into a ponytail. Place a towel around your neck.
  2. Warm Up: Soak a washcloth in very warm water and hold it against your face. This will moisten and warm your skin, as well as relaxing your face muscles.
  3. Cleanse: Wash your face with a mild cleanser or soap to remove dirt. Pat dry with a clean towel.
  4. Deep-Clean: Next, apply a mask to your face appropriate for your skin type. This will clean down into your pore and will lift it to the top layer of your skin.
  5. Relax: While you're waiting for the mask to dry, lay down somewhere comfortable. Put cucumber or potatoe slices over your eyes to soothe your lids. When the mask is dry remove it from your face with a scrub, which will remove the layer of dirt that the mask lifted from your pores.
  6. Tingle: Moisten a cotton ball with a toner or astringent. Rub it on your face using a circular motion. You should get a cool refreshing feeling as the astringent removes any other impurities.
  7. Soften: Pour a dime sized amount of a light, noncomedogenic lotion into your palm. Apply to your face and let it soak in.
  8. Message: Move your fingers over your skin in a light circular motion. This will soothe any tense muscles in your face. Finish by tapping your finger lightly all over your face to wake up the nerves in your skin.

  1. Run water into a tub. Test the water temp. to make sure its juuuust right.

The Best Way to Treat Oily Skin

The biggest mistake most people make is overloading on the concealers and powders, and they scrub their skin raw! Actually, washing your face too often will cause the oil glands in your face to work harder and produce MORE oil! So heres what to do. If you shower in the morning, wash your face with a gentle soap and a washcloth. Then before you go to bed, use a toner or astringent to remove the days oil from your T-Zone. To mange during the day, use a pressed powder on your oily areas, then dust a light loose powder all over. Still looking as shiny as a lightbulb? You can buy Clean&Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets at almost any drugstore. The sheets absorb oil without smudging your make up! Simply dab and go! Please comment if you have any questions.
